Coming October 2026

Monogamy is the most widely practiced religion most people don't know they belong to.

Beyond monogamy's myths lies something better — Conscious Intimacy — relationships built on genuine desire, mutual truth, and real connection rather than obligation, performance, and fear.

No one’s dared to examine the Consequences of Monogamy (they’re not what you think) - until NOW.

About the Book

Billions of people have inherited a relationship structure they never consciously chose — handed down through religion, culture, law, and repetition so complete it feels like instinct. Science proves that monogamy is not something we evolved to, and it’s not human nature. It’s a cultural invention. Statistics show how we suffer it: soaring divorce rates, epidemic infidelity, and millions of people lying side by side feeling utterly alone.

The Cult of Monogamy makes the case that most relationship suffering comes from living inside a system that is misaligned with human nature in the first place. It further exposes that when millions of people practice a system that conflicts with human nature, the consequences don’t just stay personal—they reshape society, the environment and the future of our species.

Drawing on decades of clinical experience and multidisciplinary cross-cultural research, Dr. Hyman dismantles the myths and conditioning making modern relationships so painful — and replaces them with something far more powerful: the truth about who we actually are, and a daring path forward called Unigamy.

Whether you're in a relationship that works, one that struggles, or searching for one that finally will — this book will change how you see yourself, your partner, and what love is actually capable of.

About the Author

Dr. Jon Hyman

I didn't set out to write a book about monogamy. I set out to understand human suffering.

After earning my biology degree with honors at Stanford and my medical degree with honors at Harvard, I spent more than twenty-five as an orthopedic surgeon — treating trauma and studying the human body from the inside out. But the questions that kept me up at night were never purely clinical. They were about instinct, desire, identity, and why so many people — intelligent, loving, well-intentioned people — kept finding themselves in the same cycles of pain.

That search took me across more than sixty countries, including time living among Indigenous tribes, studying how humans have formed bonds across vastly different cultures and centuries. It led me deep into evolutionary biology, psychology, and anthropology. And it led me through my own life — as a parent, as someone who has navigated marriage, divorce, and the full complexity of love.

What I found changed everything I thought I knew.

This book is an invitation to see through the illusions we've inherited, reconnect with our authentic nature, and build something far more honest in their place.

My mission is simple: to help people suffer less by understanding who we truly are and by dispelling the myths and pseudoscience around one of the most taboo and provocative topics of our time.

Why is Monogamy called a Cult?

It is similar to a Cult because via mass propaganda we’ve been conditioned to believe in it, defend it, obey it, and build our identity around it, without ever questioning it. If we dare go against it, we are threatened, cancelled, or punished.
